Brocade Fibre Channel templates.

Yup there is a CDEF function for RX and TX Words. I included it in my modified template to be found somewhere in the thread.
As we kicked out the Brocade's for some MacData i have no need for this template anymore. So if anyone feels the urge to maintain i guess a lot ppl will be happy.

do you have a complete example of rrdtool in the scriptshell language.

I don't now the language XML.

Try the rrdtool docs. It's all documented how everything works.

I've got this working so far, with a few oddities on a few Brocade switches. I'm curious though, when creating the graphs for the devices, what I should be selecting for "Data Source [Summary of RX & TX Word]"?

I tried "Translate Brocade words into Bytes", and it gave some funky results. So then I tried "None" on another graph, and it looked more reasonable based on what I saw earlier in this post on how Throughput is derived from TX and RX words.

What's the correct choice?

Ok, so I think I've figured it out. If I select "Translate Brocade words into Bytes", then I get the funky results, the txWords, rxWords, and Throughput are all equal on the graph.

If I select "None", then it gives me the same output that I get in portperfshow.

Just thought I'd put in my .02c in for anyone else looking for the same info.

I am still getting this error. The brocade_interfaces.xml file is there with the correct rights. I don't get it. I am running Version 0.8.6j

Hi all,

I'm trying to monitor trafic on brocade switchs using cacti but I get wrong values for trafic over 54 MBytes/second.
I think it's normal because we are using 32 bits SNMP counters so with a 300 seconds step we should have :

((2^37)-1)/((2^23)*300) = 54,61 MBytes/second

Is this correct ?
Does anyone solved this issue ?

I am new to Cacti so please excuse my ignorance.
I followed the instructions to add the newest Brocade Fibre Channel Template posted by ScOp3 on Wed Sep 21, 2005.
Unfortunately I can't graph any port stats as I get a message stating:

This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query. You can run this data query in debug mode to get more information.

Is there something obvious that I am missing?

I think I have bigger problems as I can't seem to get any index values from any of the other devices that I previously had. I will post to a more general troubleshooting Forum.

Forgive me but I'm a total cacti newb.

Cacti Version 0.8.6i
Apache2
PHP 4.4.4-8+etch2 (using debian if it matters)

I can't seem to get the port numbers on my brocades to display properly.
I followed the directions earlier in this thread.
For example
I'm seeing ports 1-16, 1-32
when i should see 0-15, 0-31
These are all brocade 16 or 32 port 4gb switches.

I'm probably missing something really stupid, but I was banging my head this morning and it shouldn't be this hard on a Friday.

Hello,
I'm trying to import the template cacti_host_template_brocade_fc_switch.xml but I encounter the following message in the web gui:

Code: Select all

Error: XML parse error.

I'm using Cacti 0.8.6i on a debian 4.0, PHP 4.4.4 and apache 2.2.3.
brocade_interfaces.xml is in .../resource/snmp_queries.
Any idea?

Edit: solved, firefox (last version) was making something wrong, switched to IE and import works immediately

Hi,

Anybody else with the problem, that brocade FC switches stop communicating SNMP with the cacti poller?

I start with one switch (64 ports), add another - for a while it works fine and then I get SNMP error when I look into the Device (where I define Hostname/description etc).

It's the VirtualMachine appliance freshly downloaded from rpath. No big thing in performance analysis of the VM - no swapping whatever, the win$ host with the VMWare Server is not very busy as well.

Log is talking about 4 hosts, 1557 DataSources, RRDs processed 149

When it should be a perf_prob, this would be no good - the final plan is to monitor several thousands of switchports........

At least with a dedicated server, your target size should not be that problem. Are you using cactid? Are you using SNMP V2? What is given at Settings -> Poller -> The Maximum SNMP OID's Per SNMP Get Request? You may want to reduce this value step by step.

No - is this recommended?

Now 2 Switches are running OK - as soon as I add a third one I get SNMP Errors in the GUI.
Furthermore the log says something about SQL Exec failed "insert into poller_output".
Mmmhh - there's no load to observe and no high network traffic.
