Sorry.

When creating several graphs through "Create graphs for this hosts" ( this host has a host template assiciated ), if I select evey graph configured in the host template, cacti creates as many data sources as there are graphs to create, even if they all use the same data source.

Will cacti be able to know the graphs it is creating are using the same data source

I know there is a workaround, but every supplemantary graph has to be created "manually" and it would be more beautifull if cacti could be clever.

Is it clearer ?

Well, it only collect's the data it needs. If you are creating multiple Traffic graphs, one with bit's and the others with bytes, for example, it will get the data twice. This is a current design limitation.

In my case I have :

- 1 Data Input Method collecting every DNS stats I need on a server via SSH script.
- 1 Data Source Template for those "DNS stats" colected
- 3 Graph template for DNS request stats, DNS errors, and DNS cache hit rate
- 1 Host template for "DNS servers" where I put the 3 graphs in it.

To add a new DNS server, I create a new host with the "DNS servers" host template selected. Then choose "Create graphs for this hosts" and select the three graphs. Everything is working but cacti has created 3 Data sources based on the "DNS stats" template and is doing three SSH connection each time it is collecting data.

In fact, if it is a desing limitation, I don't see the point why Data Input Method and Data Source Template are seperated.

It would be very nice if this limitation could be overcome.
