I was thinking that this would help with a lot of issues... I don't know if anything like this is being developed for the new architecture, if not... then this could maybe get added (and delay the new version of Cacti!? Never!)
Templates can placed inside a zip with all the dependencies. This could include information as to what the minimum version of Cacti is required. If the hash doesn't match it's probably due to different versions (export from a higher version than someone trying to import) and at least that error can appear saying "This template requires minimum of version 0.8.6j")
The other thing would be any xml files or scripts that need to go into specific directories can then get imported and placed in the correct directories.
