It's not released for some reason. The author is pre-occupied. If you read very carefully, you may not need it.

Well, being that I wrote it... If you have the PIA 1.0, and you move the copy the "modified" files into the main Cacti distribution and then make a slight change to utilities.php, you essentially have the PIA 1.1 minus some other features for upcomming Plugins.

So you can do it. However, per my first note, you have to fully understand what is going on. Permissions in UNIX/Linux are very important. In addition, there have been problems reported with the "Multi-Process" service that I still need to correct.

Have done this. Followed the instructions in the readme to the letter and still no success getting the service to run.

I can run boost_poller.php manually and it seems to run fine, just can't set the service to start. Symbolic link files exist in all the relevant rcx.d directories for the run-levels.

Hmm.. i try implement boost plugin to my cacti test server.. all works fine, but..
poller interval = 5 min.
rrd update/graph every 10 min.

after first scan in my browser missing graphs, they going back after second scan (after 10 min.)

when i set:
poller interval = 1 min.
rrd update/graph every 10 min.

same problem, after 1 min.. so middle 1-10 min. i don't see graphs, it's normal? maybe someone have solution?

btw. TheWitness, when that will be work i will install that plugin to my real cacti, where i have about 7000 hosts /40000 DS. In future i can be your tester ;)

Yep. README (should) require to put it into /etc/init.d, so it's an init script

To help, I would need your current BOOST plugin configuration from Settings. Please avoid "Muliple Boost Servers" at the moment. Please switch off Graph caching for the first try. If everything's fine, you may turn it on later.

I go to your advice Gandalf, Multiple Boost Servers = off, Img caching = off.. but still that same situation. I don't know it's big, but on linux installation i can't connect to BOOST daemon on port 9050/localhost.. seems to close socket, not bind a port (without firewall).

Yup it's there... Also got the correct symbolic link's in the rc3.d & rc5.d folders too but still no luck starting the service.

Do you edit the init file? there you must set a path/dir of boost plugin.
Next copy to /etc/init.d && chmod +x cacti_rrdsvc && try do /etc/init.d/cacti_rrdsvc start
Thats all.

Please start the boost_server from command line like

Code: Select all

/var/www/html/cacti/plugins/boost/boost_server.php
If it responds with

Code: Select all

2007:01:26 19:57:30 - Cacti RRDtool Service Started
please try a

Code: Select all

telnet localhost 9050
status
from another terminal window on the same host. On the first terminal window, you should see some more lines, then. Please post all of the output.

With your help Reinhard i start boost server from command line, he return clean line (without txt *Cacti RRDtool Service Started*). So still can't connect via telnet - wired, couse startup script show started process and boost works i mean update graphs in every 10 min.

You think that situation may be linked with missing graphs middle polling interval?

Thank you Reinhard for your interest and patient, maybe have you other idea what can be wrong?

Hmm.. i've modify a bit boost_server.php file and set:

Code: Select all

/* suppress warnings */
error_reporting(E_ALL);
Now when i start script manualy i get respond:

Code: Select all

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function socket_create() in /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/boost/boost_server.php on line 85

Fatal error: Call to undefined function socket_create() in /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/boost/boost_server.php on line 85
Maybe that will help in solution..
