Graphing VLANS Using Riverstone

Post by nedo »

Hey

Does anyone know how to graph VLAN. I am able to graph physical ports on my device but not VLAN ?

Is it possible that cacti doesnt support this type ??

Casti will support any information you can gather. So I think the right question to ask here is: can you gather the information you want to display from your device. So that will depend on what information your device can deliver - probably through SNMP. For that, you will need to consult their MIBs.

If you do not see your VLAN's in the ifInterfaces table, then your switch vendor likely does not support them in that space (somewhat odd but not entirely). You may have to find where they publish this information in SNMP and write a corresponding Data Query and associated components to properly graph it.

You could try the following RS Mibs..

dot1qTpVlanPortInFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.6.1.1 Counter32 read-only
dot1qTpVlanPortOutFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.6.1.2 Counter32 read-only
dot1qTpVlanPortInOverflowFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.6.1.4 Counter32read-only
dot1qTpVlanPortOutOverflowFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.6.1.5 Counter32 read-only

If you'd prefer 64 bit counters,

dot1qTpVlanPortHCInFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.7.1.1 Counter64 read-only
dot1qTpVlanPortHCOutFrames 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.7.1.4.7.1.2 Counter64 read-only

And the byte counters (available from release 9.1.0.1 onwards):

rsPortVlanInOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.1.1.101 Counter32 read-only
rsPortVlanOutOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.1.1.102 Counter32 read-only
rsPortVlanInOverflowOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.1.1.103 Counter32 read-only
rsPortVlanOutOverflowOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.1.1.104 Counter32read-only

rsPortVlanHCInOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.2.1.101 Counter64 read-only
rsPortVlanHCOutOctets 1.3.6.1.4.1.5567.2.65.1.10.2.1.102 Counter64 read-only

Thanks,

I must have been a sleep when I did that post, becuase VLAN information is not housed in ifInterfaces
