System Inventory

Considering that Cacti already has access to the full host resources part of the tree (assuming it's been set up as such), is there any chance of either cacti core, or a plug-in, supporting the ability to inventory a system and store that inventory?

As is, in the case of a net-snmp box, I can get the sysdescr etc, the disk layout is also (sort of) available, total memory etc are all there. I'd imagine that once I add the OMSA software for our Dell servers, the service tag etc will also become available via SNMP.

I believe that this is already in the works. Check out down in the Mac-Track forum. There's a couple of threads down there where it's being discussed.
