Combined / Total Hard Drive Report

Post by CPUKiller »

I've done a couple of searches but in my infamiliarity with Cacti I may have searched for the wrong thing.

Basically, I want a graph to show the total space of the hard drives in my system. Right now I have the individual drive graphs but I would also like a graph showing the total and used space for all the drives or all the drives I select.

I've messed around a bit with making templates and a graph but haven't figured a way to do it, does anyone know how it can be done?

Two different approaches:
1) Graph each volume seperately, then aggregate them as given by linegod's posting onj aggregation. Tedious, but works. Not feasible, if number of volume changes often, as you have to change the aggregate then
2) Graph the total using a specific script, that does the summing based on a partly qualified query of ALL volumes (e.g. an snmpwalk against hrStorageTable). Implement this script for a graph of all volumes as given in my Cacti HowTo

I think I have something set up that *should* work, but in debug mode the graph segfaults.

Do Cacti/rrdtools have problems with big numbers? The total of all drives would be about 1.14TB.

Sorry, no clue on my side.
When it comes to cacti, this would be a php limit, if any.
When it comes to rrdtool, please post to rrdtool-users mailinglist
