newbie to linux, and to cacti.
fedora core 6, latest flavors of php, mysql.
cant seem to get anything working with snmp. Even the local machine graphs arent working in snmp mode.
been looking up on google, and everywhere else I can look, and not getting anywhere.
can someone point me in a good direction to help me troubleshoot this problem.
I run an snmpwalk and i think I'm getting a proper response from a cisco switch, snmp is setup on the switch.
thanks for any help

There's a brief snmp introduction at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=15353. If this is not enough, please use the net-snmp-users mailinglist. It is very busy ...

your suggestions has helped in the only regard that it has given me more info, but not exactly sure if its helping me or not with this problem. The over all knowledge is helping of course but still not getting anywhere with this problem.
got the following errors when trying to build a new data query. I'm thinking that there is something wrong with the snmp queries Ihave in cacti for a win xp laptop? messing with the snmpwalk command has moved me in this direction, may be right, maybe wrong but I'm here.
what am I doing wrong, or what is wrong?
+ Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/html/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1.8'
+ No SNMP data returned
