"Suggested Values" |query_*| getting cutoff

Post by jlg »

hi folks, i have a "Suggested Values" for my Data Template name which looks like this:

Code: Select all

|host_description| - DeviceIO Bytes - |query_diskIODevice|
but the "query_diskIODevice" gets cutoff.

for example, "ide/host2/bus1/target0/lun0/disc" gets cutoff to "myhost - DeviceIO Bytes - ide/host2/bus1/".

if i click on the data source, i can see that "Index Value" has the full value "ide/host2/bus1/target0/lun0/disc" so i'm sure cacti saw the whole value at one point.

also, here is the debug info showing that cacti saw the whole value:

Code: Select all

also, in the "Create Graphs" screen, i see the full value "ide/host2/bus1/target0/lun0/disc" displayed. when i check mark the line and then create, i get this message at the top: "+ Created graph: myhost - DeviceIO Bytes - ide/host2/bus1/"

i saw this link which said something about limits to |query_*| but did not specify what those limits were:
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=14732

of course, i have the same problem with the "Suggested Values" for Graph Template title.

thanks,

thanks Reinhard...that did the trick.

for the benefit of those reading this thread, note that making the change does not change the names of data sources or graphs that have already been created. you must drop and recreate graphs to pick up the new setting.

I do not agree. You may select those Graphs you need to update from Graph Management. Then, please select "reapply suggested names"

ah, yes indeed...thank you for pointing out that option. i was just about to reply to my earlier remark that you could simply make a change to the graph name, save and then undo that change and re-save...and that process would reapply the new names to your graphs. however, the option you gave is much quicker :)
