Cacti Ports

Post by georgepremier »

Can you tell me what ports Cacti uses for the graphing.

As it is graphing for our firewalls but no further

Cacti doesn't use "ports" as such. However, if you are graphing via SNMP on a network object that is the other side of a firewall, you are going to need port 161 (SNMP) open on the firewall to the host for this to work.

If you are able to query the host, and return it's SNMP information from CACTI, then this is probably already open.

I have aloud the ports for 161 tcp and udp on the firewall but I am still not getting any graphing

When I run a verbose query for snmp this is my result:
Running data query [1].
+ Found type = '3' [snmp query].
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ XML file parsed ok.
+ Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1'
+ No SNMP data returned
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'
+ Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml'

any ideas

Looks like no data is being returned from the host. Have you supplied the correct snmp community name, and the correct originating IP of the CACTI host ?

Can you do an SNMP walk from another host on the network to isolate firewall rule issues ?

It is definately a firewall issue actually as it is more than one server being affect.

I did add the snmp port 161 for tcp and udp to the INPUT chain though
