Can't poll devices and get "snmpwalk: Unknown engine ID

Post by FlyingDuffman »

I setup a new Cacti Server since my old one was on a really crummy machine and we had a spare server that was much better. I have both running side by side right now, but once I add devices, I am going to turn the old one off. I am having issues though and have been unable to get SNMP data from any of the devices on the new server. I have verified that the IP Address, community string, etc are idential on the old server and the new server, but I cannot poll them on the new server.

When I try and do an SNMP walk on the new server, I get this error:
"snmpwalk: Unknown engine ID"

Any thoughts?

OKAY, I figured it out... I realized I couldn't ping anything outside of my immediate network and found I was missing the default route in my network config. Seems to be working right now.
