actual values

Post by jackskinner »

I need to graph actual values not averages.
Could someone point me to information on doing that?

You need to look at the GAUGE DS type to graph 'non-rate' values.

They will still be averaged after a certain period (say, a few days). This is part of how rrdtool works. If you need to keep data un-averaged for longer, you can change the size of the rrd files, but there will always be a point where data is either averaged or thrown away (off the end of the time period).

See Gandalf's excellent howto for changing your rrd's to average less:
Howto define very BIG rra "without data loss" and How CONSOLIDATION Works.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Please consider graphing not the CF=AVERAGE (as is done most of the time) but CF=MAX. This is a two click change and works for all data you've already sampled. And you may change back again if this is not what you want
