Backup / Recovery

Post by Guest »

Would be nice if someone could list details about exactly what should be backed up - or maybe even get something in the software itself that could take all the settings - graphs, hosts, users etc and export to a file(s) which could be imported to a clean system upon restore.

Dont have the SQL, rrd, perl skills.

You could also do this via cron & mysqldump.
you could also tar up the cacti directory (if you want more than rrd & log dirs)
& use the cp -b option as well.

I was resently thinking about this.

Because I had to move an existing cacti installation from one server to another in a different path. I ran into some issues and a backup and restore proceedure would help to solve this moving issue.

So you might see it, but I'm not promising it.

I just have Windows run a backup job on my cacti and mysql directories nightly. Good enough for me.
