Refresh Hosts that reference an updated host template

Post by gandalf »

We have just some dozens of devices referencing the same host template. From time to time we expand the host templates adding newly developed graph templates.

To generate the appropriate graphs, we select each host. Then we set the host template to "none"; save. Next step is to reselect the former host template; save.
Now the new graph templates are shown in the list and generating graphs works as usual.

Proposal:
Add a "Refresh Host Template" Button. Clicking it should reread the current templates associated with the host template currently used and save them to the database.

Same here. This is an urgently needed feature.

But it would be better to have this option in the device overview.

so i can select all the hosts that need a "host template refresh" and then select in the combo box at the bottom "reapply host template" or something like this.

it is really annoying to click though all devices, setting host template to "none" and then back to the old value only to get the new graph templates for this device.

Sort of like "Sync Hosts with Current Template"?

You may find my tweak at http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=7494 useful. It's not officially supported, but runs on my 0.8.6h installation. It works only on Graph Templates added to a Host Template, not on Data Queries
And, I suppose, there might be a better place to call it (not Graph Management). Perhaps a "Re-Apply Host Template" in the "Actions" dropdown on the "Devices" List?
