ACPI queries

Post by yablo »

I've got a Dell Latitude D600 that I'd like to graph data for CPU temperatures. The D600 is not supported by lm_sensors. After some poking around, the ACPI management area in /proc/acpi seems to have a bunch of information in it.

Basically, I want a template that will check on /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM/temperature every polling cycle and pull that data into a graph. temperature is already formatted, I just don't quite know how I'd go about jamming this data into a template and creating the query and whatnot.

Code: Select all

[root@shithead ~]# cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM/temperature
temperature: 41 C
For what it's worth, this is a Fedora Core 6 machine and Cacti is running on it locally.

Thanks in advance.

Did you ever make any progress on this? If so, I'd love to see what you've done, as I'm about to attempt the same thing.
