Windows CPU Usage

Post by autys »

Hi all,

Another N00b question. I'm trying to gather CPU usage form a Windows 2003 server bix with no luck.

I have other data working OK. (Logged in Users, Traffic) But I just get no values for CPU.

I have the following Data Sources configured:
ucd/net - nice
ucd/net - System
ucd/net - User

Graph is configured as ucd/net Cpu usage template. the graph shows OK but all values are 0.00

Any ideas?

Hi

ucd/net are usually only used on Unix servers.

For your Windows 2003 server, use the "SNMP - Get Processor Information" and "SNMP - Get Mounted Partitions" data queries instead.

Thanks, but I don't have those 2 as options on the Data templates.

These are data queries; you have to go to devices, choose the device you want to graph, and then choose "create graphs for this host".

You may have to reload the data queries (hit the green circles).

+ XML file parsed ok.

BSOD2600's Windows Install FAQ wrote: Q: Why doesn't Windows return Disk or CPU usage via SNMP?
A: Open up the SNMP Service and click on the Agent tab. Make sure all the service checkboxes are marked. Restart the SNMP service.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR

I've tried that and get the same thing..

I've also tried monitoring a 2nd Windows 2003 server with the same result. I can get some information, but not Disks and CPU, both scripts keep returning 0 rows.

Now I'm confused..

I've tried a 2nd Cacti install on a different machine (a VMware server). This one appears to pick up the CPU and Processor information OK.

Both are running on Fedora Core, Both are fully patched, both have the same configuration.. One works, the other doesn't

:( :(

The only differenc eis that the working one is FC6, the non working is FC5.

FC6 reports Cacti 0.8.6i
FC5 reports Cacti 0.8.6h

I'm going to try to update the FC5 to i (even though Yum can't see the i version)
