How can I add the background graph in weathermap?
Hi Howie,
Thanks in advance for your great realtime monitoring system. Based on the web as below
http://wotsit.thingy.com/haj/cacti/php- ... llery.html,
I want to make my weathermap diagram be more readable on the device identification and location. It is easy to add device icon.
But How can I insert the backgound diagram shown as below weblink.(the Middle diagram in the 2rd line) to identificate the device location.

Thanks a lot
B.R.

In 0.8x, you use photoshop/gimp/imagemagick to do itzy_milan wrote:I have anyother problem about how can I resize or change the device icon size?
I insert one device icon but it is too big to be shown normally.
Please give me some advice. Thanks a lot.

In 0.9, weathermap will do some scaling for you.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

This is because the other nodes have a LABELFONT set, so changing the DEFAULT doesn't help. Removing those LABELFONT lines from the config will make them all follow the default node. I know this isn't right. Please see the big red box in the editor.zy_milan wrote:I find the edit function has little problem. When I have changed the node font, the new add-node's font go into effect. But the other node has no change.
0.9 will have the same editor. I plan to change it, but it won't be different for 0.9. Personally, I use the editor only to place the nodes and links, and then I edit using vi/notepad to fine-tune things. The plan is to have a drap&drop editor, with support for most/all the features added since 0.6, which is when the editor was first created.zy_milan wrote:It is very inconvenient for users to edit the diagram. I hope enhance
the weathermap edit founction in release 0.9.
There is no point in working on the editor right now, as I am adding new features to the 'engine', which means work on the editor would need to be reworked in a few months.

Re: How can I add the background graph in weathermap?
I would really like to get the background B.R. is referring to as well. It woudl be great if everyone would submit some of their backgrounds for others to use in their maps. I have attached one that I have been using. It's OK but I would like to see some others, especially the one on the following page:

LOL. You already have it. That one is in the docs/example directory of the zip file The whole of that map is!kelbyc wrote:I would really like to get the background B.R. is referring to as well. It's an old stack of HP LPr NetServers we had in the office it one time.
I don't really understand why you would want the background for the blue and purple map in the gallery though. That was the layout for a specific customer network. It is only a few rounded rectangles drawn in Photoshop, anyway... it would take a few minutes with Photoshop (or GIMP, or VISIO, or Powerpoint) to make a similar background.
Maybe I should start some sort of repository page for these images - icon and background graphics. That's a nice one that you posted.

Here's the requested BG image, just so you can see it clearly.
I'd forgotten about one thing - what I actually did to make it was get the basic map from weathermap, then use gaussian blur to make the shadows in photoshop, THEN draw the boxes underneath that, to get the nice shadows in the final map. It's a lot of work but it looks pretty
I think this is almost the oldest map I have - it's from when I first started adding overlib stuff to grnet's perl weathermap.
One other bit of related news - over the weekend, I added the ability to use JPEG and GIF for backgrounds and icons, so this nice 617KB blue swirly background will reduce to 55KB... Also, you can output as JPEG or GIF too.
