Alternative forms of authentication

Post by steveeq1 »

Can't find this in the manual or checking online, so I doubt it exists, but I'll make posting anyway. . .

Is there a way to authenticate to cacti using an alternative system such as LDAP, PAM, or Kerberos?

Current version of cacti, 0.8.6c, has limited LDAP support.

The next release has much more improved LDAP and Web Basic Auth (.htaccess), which could use PAM with a module and Apache. Direct pam support will not happen, we try to be more platform indenpendant.

If you have specifics that you are trying to implement, let me know. I work on the authenication code in cacti.

Rony,

How would one go about making the Cacti login compatible with Radius (freeRadius using the PAM authentication module)?

Many thanks.

OK I can use external authentication (Authen MSAD in my case), but how does one tie that username into the cacti database (to limit access?).
