If you have php5 installed on your system, run that rather than "php /usr/share...."

You will want:

Code: Select all

sudo php5 /usr/share/cacti/poller_reindex_hosts.php
sudo php5 /usr/share/cacti/rebuild_poller_cache.php
sudo php5 /usr/share/cacti/poller.php
You may have a slightly different issue, though. I always forget we have the php5 package.

Yep, I have a different issue. That doesn't solve it for me. I uninstalled the Ubuntu package entirely and installed the cacti tarball manually. I'm still having the same issue. I did try the php5 thing. I made sure php5 was used in my cron stuff.

To any other poor souls with this issue: Verify that your crontab entry for the poller is running in a user that can write to the rra directory. I was banging my head with these symptoms until I realized that I had the cron setup for 'cactiuser' when 'apache' had access to the directory exclusively. Hope that helps.
