Some Serious Cacti Problems!

Post by Aris »

Hi,

I have 2 problems with Cacti which I can't get right:

Problem 1:
I am trying to get some bandwidth stats from Cacti but I am not able to get a working image. I checked the rrdtool version and everything is set up correct.
RRDTool Command:

/usr/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="server01 - Traffic" \
--rigid \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="bits per second" \
DEF:a="/var/www/vhosts/xxxcom/httpdocs/status/rra/server01_traffic_in_62.rrd":traffic_in:AVERAGE \
DEF:b="/var/www/vhosts/xxx.com/httpdocs/status/rra/server01_traffic_in_62.rrd":traffic_out:AVERAGE \
CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* \
CDEF:cdeff=b,8,* \
AREA:cdefa#00CF00:"Inbound" \
GPRINT:cdefa:LAST:" Current\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:cdefa:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:cdefa:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" \
COMMENT:"Total In: 0 bytes\n" \
LINE1:cdeff#002A97:"Outbound" \
GPRINT:cdeff:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:cdeff:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" \
GPRINT:cdeff:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" \
COMMENT:"Total Out: 0 bytes"
RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/var/www/vhosts/xxx.com/httpdocs/status/rra/server01_traffic_in_62.rrd': No such file or directory
I added a server and added the Interface - Traffic (bits/sec, Total Bandwidth graph). I see this problem many times on the forum but never a good solution. I added rocommunity public to the servers snmpd.conf file and restarted snmpd.

Problem 2:
When I add my servers to tree mode I dont see them! I do see them in List and Preview mode! Any ideas?

Hi

this graph uses the same data source twice (traffic_in).
Go to graph management, and select traffic_out for the 2nd data source.

Do you try to add them from devices management ? If yes, this bug has been corrected in the upcoming Cacti 0.8.6i release (http://bugs.cacti.net/view.php?id=731)

You can add your servers in a tree using tree management.

Well tried that also but still no go...

I have another nice thing :)

I added 4 servers and localhost.
Localhost creates graphs but servers 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 are all creating the exact same stats! Server01 has a constant load of 2.x and shows 0.6 just like all other servers!

Here is the example :)

All servers have different IP's and are of course other servers.

Cacti: 0.8.6h
OS: Fedora Core 3

and here is the log file:

I created Host Templates for all seperate servers (I thought maybe thats the problem):

What do I see when looking at latest log file:

Hi

this host template is meant to be used only with the Cacti server.

You can use the "ucd/net snmp" host template to graph other Unix servers.

I found it, I need to configure my net-snmp properly because the local servers dont respond to

snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11

Searcing the forums already :)

Incorrect sir... I have to point out that they are using the same rrdtool file, but 2 seperate DS stored in that rrdtool file.

Question, did you add the template directly? If so, remove it. That template is part of the Interface Data Query.

So, so get traffic graphs, you will need to add the "Interface SNMP" data query to the host. Once you do that, you can then click "Create graphs for this host" link at the top of the page. Then select the interfaces you would like to graph and click create.
