plugin tabs stretch the window

Post by airwalk »

Looks like a new tab for a plugin stretches the main window so one need to scroll horizontally to see the whole page. This is clearly seen when you point to the default "console" tab. That's very inconvenient! Is there any way not to add a new bitmap but to substitute it with a part of the background. (Sorry, but i dunno how to explain this in other words).

I feared this as we introduced plugins. I will have to look at this. It's great that we have some many useful plugins, now we have to find a way to display them all.

I think some of the existing plugins would be better positioned in the Tools menu anyway. You don't *have* to have a tab after all... maybe a 'declassified' version of the Console tab for non-admin users, so that the space there is more useful for plugins?
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

How about drop down menus in place of the tabs?

Code: Select all

tab/menu1 tab/menu2 ....
\ \
syslog reports
mactrack Wmap

Sir, have you been looking at 0.9.0 SVN... :P

We are moving to a tabbed system with menus. :)

Drop downs, I like drop downs. In the mean time, the idea of a separate "Plugin" Console would be good.

Glad you are aware of it. Still this is just a cosmetic improvement so I don't bother alot. Anyway cacti rocks, though it requires too much programming knowledge from an ordinary network engineer. =)

Easy solution, get a wide screen monitor!!

Jokes a side, the discover plugin actually has a variable in its config file that allows it to use be placed as a Console menu item, instead of a tab. I may need to allow some of the plugins to do the same.
