Disappearing graphs

Post by Jeekay »

I've had a few problems now where changing something reasonably simple on a graph (title, data source, etc) causes the graph to disappear from the land of the living.

Basically it disappears enough that it is no longer listed under 'Graph Management', but if it had a manual entry in a Graph Tree the line will still be there but it will be empty (ie no name shown). It doesn't disappear enough for you to be able to recreate the graph - the appropriate interface or graph template stays grayed out as though the graph already exists.

The only way I have found to fix this is to completely delete the device the graph was active for and recreate it... but this isn't really a workable solution any more.

Has anyone else seen this and/or know what might be causing it? What bits of the database do I need to hack at to remove all record of the broken graph?

I am currently running version 0.8.6h.

Thanks in advance,
Jeekay

I am using the Ubuntu Dapper packages for cacti.. I have looked throuh both their and Debian's changelogs but I can't see whether any cacti patches are in there on top of 0.8.6h.

Do you happen to know if they are?

If not, does the mysql patch actually require a rebuild or is it just a patch to some web pages?

I've applied all those patches now (incidentally, clicking 'official patches' on the front page doesn't take you anywhere near them...).

I still have the problem of graphs I've created being in this 'phantom' state where I can't recreate them but they don't appear anywhere that allows me to delete them. What's a good way to flush all knowledge of it? (I know the graph id from graph_local)
