Cacti & 3Com Corebuilder 9000 / Switch 4007

Post by AK47 »

Hi there,

I'm trying to monitor some interfaces on a 3Com Corebuilder 9000 (a.k.a. Switch 4007). But, when I'm trying to get interfaces (snmp walk) from the chassis IP, I'm not getting any interfaces (the acctual network ports). I do get 3 items, but those are not the acctual network ports.

Is there anyone here was has experience with Cacti & the Corebuilder 9000?
Thanks in advance :)

I would suspect that your device does not support reporting at the sub-interface level. Have you tried running the queries using snmpV2. That sometimes enables them on Cisco.

You should walk ifInterfaces. If it does not include the sub-interfaces, call your vendor and ask them how to turn them on. Once you get done with that, please post again your findings.

Ah, found it! You have to use different SNMP communities for reading out the blades.

To see which SNMP communties your CB9000 has, type: (or something)

Code: Select all

show snmp extensions
For reading out ports which are being controlled by the switch fabric use this SNMP community: (public being your read-only community)

Code: Select all

public@fabric
For reading out ports which control them self use this community: (replace 'x' with the slot #)

Code: Select all

public@slot_x.1
