I need to create a graph for an interface on a router. The problem I think is, this router has thousands (10,000 +) graphable things. The device successfully finishes the verbose query after I altered the snmp timeout, and I can go to New Graphs for this device and find the interface I wish to graph. Loading this page is interesting, my browser crunches for approximately 173 seconds and I must select "continue" from a popup about an unresponsive script. Once the interface I wish to graph is selected and submitted I get the message (after another 3 minutes) that says:
Created Graph: <router name> - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
This is a little different from normal, usually the | blah | is replaced with something about the object. Anyway I can go to data sources and see what I've just created but the Index type and output type ID both tell me that "new graphs must be created through new graphs", and the Index value is blank.
I should point out in case the systems and/or network is suspect that I am on an ethernet LAN with the cacti box and the router cacti is querying, all gigabitethernet ports. The cacti box is a quad xenon 3 ghz, my workstation is dual core pentiumD 2.8 ghz, RAM on both systems is robust.
My question is:
Is there another way to get this interface graphing? I assume that something is timing out during this process preventing the process from completing but I don't know what. I ran this with cacti logging on debug level, but after looking through what was outputted I either don't see what is relevant or don't see anything thats relevant. Suggestions?

Another interesting development
Now the Device record for the router seems to be incomplete/corrupt. There is nothing below the empty "SNMP Community name" field, no save/cancel buttons etc.
