Enabling 64-bit polling for net-snmp on FreeBSD

Post by sidvad »

I've read through the net-snmp documentation, searched on google and here on the cacti forums, but for the life of me I cannot determine how to enable 64-bit polling in net-snmp on FreeBSD. I did come across a post here on this site that said for Linux hosts ./configure'ing with --enable-mfd-rewrites resolves the issue, but this has no effect on FreeBSD. I've tried using both the version from FreeBSD's ports (5.2.3) and the source direct from the net-snmp people (5.3.1) but the results were the same with both versions.

If anyone knows how to enable the 64-bit polling support on FreeBSD so that I can graph my GigE interfaces, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

Hi

have you try to setup this host (in Cacti) using SNMP v2 and 64 bit templates ?

At first glance I thought you were referring to FreeBSD running as a 64 bit OS.
I see that you are actually referring to 64 bit counters.

I run FreeBSD and routinely graph GigE ports on Cisco gear with a fairly standard configuration. What GigE interfaces (what manufacturer / model) can you not graph?
Thank you,

Ernie

Let's start basic:
What is the manufacturer and model of the gear with GigE ports that you are trying to monitor?
Thank you,

Don't you need a fairly recent version of net-snmp to do 64bit counters?
