Status Uknown

Post by fikkin »

I'm running Cacti on Linux and for some reason many of the devices I've entered are coming up with status "Unknown".

I'm quite new to this, though I'm familiar with Cricket, and I have no idea why this is happening. Obviously I've checked all the IP and snmp details etc.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

They're unknown because cacti has never polled them. What polling method are you using (snmp or ping) ?

Are you able to see the basic snmp info from them in cacti?

Hi,

I'm using snmp. The correct snmp details are in all the device configs. It seems I can fix it by manually creating a graph for each entry. It was just unexpected as the programmer's script we were using was supposed to do that automatically.

No matter, thanks for your help,

I encountered the same thing, and it was my experience that as long as it showed the correct SNMP data at the top you are OK. My status all changed to OK after I got some real graphs going and data being generated, but if you have a device with nothing happening you dont get the correct status back
