I get an error when polling this device all that is returned is xxx IP's. no port info etc. Would i need to create a new device type?

Hi Nigel,
If you are only getting the IP info from the device, it looks like you'll need to create a new device type, or at least modify one of the ones which come with mactrack (one you are not going to use).
If you want to take the second option, take one of the cisco device types, for example the Catalyst 6000 Router SupII (anyone with the getIOS scanning function should work) and substitute the System Description Match with part of the SysDescr of your device (any enough descriptive part like c6sup2 or something similar that appears in your device).
Now Mactrack should recognize your device properly...
