ERROR: false down status

Post by xeber »

I'm creatring graphs from ssh remote hosts.
Cacti says that some hosts is down, but i can connect to the hosts.
These hosts only accept ssh requests, and ping echo is disabled.

I think that the cacti poller check if the host is down, and if the host is down do not exec scripts.
How can i disable this check, so that it always exec scripts?

Hi

if you leave the SNMP community string empty, Cacti will not check if the host is down or up (you'll get a "SNMP not in use" message).

Thanks,

I use snmp_community string that aditional parameters for scripts.
How can i use to aditional parameters or aditional description?
I want to avoid to create a "Data Template" by host.

IMO leaving the SNMP community string empty is the only way to run scripts on a host which can't be checked with ping or SNMP.

With Cacti 0.9 you'll be able to choose a "down detection" method for each host.

You'll need to create a data input method for that (see the attached screenshot for an example).

Yes now i can see.

There the screenshot of my data input method and data template.

In this case, host parameter was derived from hostname device property, and options parameter from snmp_community device property.

I can't use snmp_community for this. I need a property to use how snmp_community.
Or create a "data template" by each parameter that can have different hosts. This uso of "data template" are not a template.

because not post, i supoose that the solution was create one data template for posibles parametres. i did that.

but any host status is in down, in mysql

Code: Select all

mysql> select status_last_error from host where id=20;
+--------------------+
| status_last_error |
+--------------------+
| UDP ping timed out |
+--------------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
what can i did with this?
