php-sessions needs a directory to store session info in it (defined by php.ini). You may change this ini settings to some directory the web-server has write access to

ic. thanks a lot. :D

After assigning the permission system still showing

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_pconnect() in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\cacti\lib\adodb\drivers\adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 355

I tried the solutions host in the user guide, using the old password tricks. It still prompt me the same error.

I am using php 5.1.4 with mySQL 5.0.

Moving to the windows forum.

1) You must patch cacti BEFORE using it with MySQL 5. So drop your existing cacti database. Read how to patch in my signature.

2) Please read the install guide in my signature. It's imperative you follow the exact steps outlined in the MySQL section so you don't get that mysql connect error.

STill getting the same error msg

I dropped the db, i manually downloaded the file in the pre-patched folder. then i replaced them, set the premission.

AFter that i repeat the step 3 till 6 in MySQL section. and i get the following msg after the update command as well.

Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec) Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0

Not sure what else to tell you besides to read the documentation, since those are the only steps, in exact order, one needs to perform. I've set up Cacti dozens of times, and each time I even follow my install guide's MySQL section to get it right.

Suppose you could try the beta windows installer, which has everything pre-configured for you.

Not sure how it would look in windows, but I had the same issue on my linux box and found that I needed to install the php mysql libraries and add an extension for mysql under the dynamic extensions section of php.ini.

Like I say, I'm not familiar with the windows implementation. But I had the same issues as yourself and after making this last change and restarting apache, everything was in harmony!
