Discovery Plugin - v0.6 Released

Post by cigamit »

Discovery Plugin
Version 0.6
Released 07/31/06 16:05:20

This plugin adds the ability to auto-discover devices on a subnet that are not monitored by Cacti and and tells you if they are SNMP enabled. You specify the subnet (multiple allowed), snmp community names, and the interval, and it does the rest.

Jimmy,

Please do the following:

1) Do like I do with MacTrack. Take the Sysdesc and then automatically associate a Host with at Host Template
2) In that definition, select the Graph Templates to Create Automatically
3) For Data Queries Define a Set of Rules to Follow for Creating Interfaces
4) Allow the Add Device to Cacti to become a checkbox
5) Bulk add devices.

Larry
True understanding begins only when we realize how little we truly understand...

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Actually that is where I was heading, which is why I have the OS Detection partially working. It detects basic Linux, Windows 2000, and Windows XP machines. I now added an Export option, which I have decided as a "better" path, as I am working on a "Bulk Add" plugin. It will allow you to import a list of devices, select a host template, and then bulk add them all, create graphs, etc... (its still heavily in the works)

I can't decide whether to allow you to transport the data directly between the 2 plugins, or make you just export it from and import it into the other.
