I have a Windows program that can out put it's information via DDE. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way that I can graph this on my Cacti server? Cacti is running on a Linux machine, so I think what I need to try and do is find a DDE client to connect to the Windows machine and get the DDE stream, and then probably do some script-foo to turn it into something graph-able by Cacti/RRDTool. Has anyone tried anything like this?
Thanks,
Brian
Graphing Data from DDE?

If you can find a way to pull the numbers, then cacti can graph it. http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=11288

cool post
Yeah, I figured, I'm more stumped on how to get the DDE data, I think that's going to be the hard part. I can't seem to find much on retrieving values remotely (I'm not even sure it's possible, either). Or, even from the command line for that matter.
Regardless, that post you referenced seems like a GREAT general resource, I had never seen it before. I think I'll print it out...
thanks!!
