Problem of comprehension of value for the Data Source TYpe

Post by Sylvain »

Hi there,
I'm using Cacti to collect Data from an SNMPv2c equipment.
The data are incremented every seconds during 15 minutes then the value is reset to zero. The maximum value is around 1500.
In the graph, I've got a maximum value of 15M, that means 15*10^6 = 15 000 000 !
the counter is 64 bits, is it the problem ?

if not, what kind of type should I put ? Gauge ? Counter ? Derive ? Absolute (I've read the documentation but I'm not sure)

Thanks in advance for the answers,

Sylvain

Use counter. Set the maximum data source size to 1500. You'll have to either delete the existing rrd file or use rrdtool tune to resize to existing DS.
