Cacti stops collecting at random hosts - SOLVED

I think this can be the problem. I have about 1000 hosts, and this number is growing. It will eventually reach about 2000, the number of wan's we have.
The number of process can affect cactid performance? A have 1 process with 32 threads. With this settings, cactid polls all the 1000 hosts in about 50 seconds.
If a increase the number of processes, would it make any difference?
By the way, what's a "core" file?

I've upgraded Cacti to 0.8.6h and Cactid to 0.8.6g, and the problem has gone.
Maybe a bug solved in this version?
Anyway, thank you all for the help.
Cacti is really a great tool.
