Yes, the getCanopyApStats.pl, and it's companion getCanopySmStats.pl are the ones giving me problems.

The scripts work when I run the cron job by hand...

It's the scripts posted by Adjacent on Mar 28, 2005 4:48 pm, posted to this very thread..

That's why I'm posting to this particular thread, this is where I found the code...

It runs fine when run by hand, but when run out of cron it fails.

Crossing my fingers... I'm just about to embark on this.

I have about 50 APs and over 200 SMs out there. Cacti so far looks to be a nice answer to monitoring them.

Traffic (In/Out)

Post by huntman »

adjacent Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 4:48 pm Post subject: UPDATE! said that the template would graph traffic (in/out) for the sm but I am unable to see this in cacti. I looked at the pl file and there is no section do to this. The xml files, however are set up to do it.

any help would be appreciated.

Errors when running the scripts

Post by icemannz »

Hi, can anyone give me any info on troubleshooting the following message
I am new to this so please excuse my lack of knowledge,
The scripts were downloaded from an earlier message in this post.
Cacti seems to be running ok as I have been able to graph a Win2003 server. The Cacti system is currently running under FreeBSD 5.4

Good day all. FWIW, I currently have Cacti running on Debian 2.4.27-2-386. I am using this box to watch over a large Canopy network as well as some Cisco routers and Linux hosts. The second posting of scripts worked flawlessly for me. To install cacti I simply used apt to grab the package, and then followed a guide on configuring the sql information.

If this is an obvious problem, I apologize in advance - I am completely new to this.

My configuration is as follows
Win 2003 Server w/IIS
MySQL 5.0
Cacti 0.8.6h
Cactid 0.8.6g
rrdtool 1.2.10 perl 5.8
php 5.1.4

Cacti is installed in the wwwroot
MySQL installed in C:\MySQL

I am currently graphing a Cisco 3600 and 2 Motorola Canopy Backhauls and it all works fine.

I would like to install the AP and SM scripts, however I must be doing something wrong. I downloaded the .xml files, and tried to import them as templates. I get the following error:

Warning: filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\phpD8.tmp in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Cacti\templates_import.php on line 59

Warning: fread() [function.fread]: Length parameter must be greater than 0 in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Cacti\templates_import.php on line 59

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Cacti\templates_import.php:59) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Cacti\templates_import.php on line 71

since I am pretty clueless i could use a little direction.

thanks

You may consider some settings of php.ini:

Code: Select all

grep upload /etc/php.ini
; Whether to allow HTTP file uploads.
file_uploads = On
; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files (will use system default if not
;upload_tmp_dir =
; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 2M
Options may vary for windows?

Has anyone had the problem where the .pl scripts open themselves up when polling? Each time it polls, I have to close the pl file (it opens in notepad) 4 times then it finishes up. Any idea on how to fix this?

I have the Canopy Templates loaded and I have created graphs for the following:
Access Points and SM's
Cacti Interface-Traffic Template = OK

Canopy AP Template:
Ethernet Stat = 1, however the value is reported as 10/half, when it's really 100/full (Not really a big deal)
GPS Stat = 1 so it's OK
Registered SM Count = no data recorded
Temperature = no data recorded

Canopy SM Template:
Ethernet Stat = 1, however the value is reported as 10/half, when it's really 100/full (Not really a big deal)
Jitter = OK
dBm = no data recorded
Session Stat = 1 so it's OK
Temperature = no data recorded

Anyone else have problems like this? Any ideas?

Thanks
