No Graphs in Fedora

Post by mt97 »

Hello there.

I'm new to cacti, but I was able to successfully install the application(s) and even add hosts; however, I'm not seeing any graphs for my hosts. I've read the manual and the FAQ and followed the instructions (I think...).

I know that files are being created and updated in the /raa directory

Output of ls -al /raa:

drwxr-xr-x 2 cacti root 4096 Jun 7 15:15 .
drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Jun 7 15:30 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 47836 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_5mi
n_cpu_13.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 94660 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_tra
ffic_in_10.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 94660 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_tra
ffic_in_11.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 94660 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_tra
ffic_in_12.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 94660 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_tra
ffic_in_8.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 94660 Jun 7 15:30 colton_high_school_data_router_tra
ffic_in_9.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 141484 Jun 7 15:30 localhost_load_1min_5.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 47836 Jun 7 15:30 localhost_mem_buffers_3.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 47836 Jun 7 15:30 localhost_mem_swap_4.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 47836 Jun 7 15:30 localhost_proc_7.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti cacti 47836 Jun 7 15:30 localhost_users_6.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 cacti users 0 Jan 3 19:08 .placeholder

End Output of ls -al /raa

If I run the php poller.php command I get

Output of php poller.php:

SYSTEM STATS: Time:1.0261 Method:cmd.php Processes:1 Th
reads:N/A Hosts:3 HostsPerProcess:3 DataSources:16 RRDsProcessed:11

OK u:0.00 s:0.00 r:0.00
OK u:0.00 s:0.00 r:0.00

End Output of php poller.php

So I think everything is functioning as it should

I've attached a screenshot of a graph list so you can see the lack of graphics.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
David

I fixed this my symlinking all my rddtools into /usr/bin/

I then went to console>settings>general and seting to the corrct ver of both rrd and net-snmp

I then went back to the device settings for the host and reseting
"SNMP Community"

one of those fixed the issue.

now I jsut have blank graphs.

I'm sorry, but I'm unfamiliar with the symlinking requirement in cacti. Did I miss something in the instructions? Or is there a log that would let me know that a link has been missed? Where do I do this?

Any help you can give would grealy appreciated!

Cheers

symlinking is *nix thing. When i installed rddtools it didi not put the files into the PATH directry.

So i went and created the simlinks for all the rdd exacutable files in my path

man ln

will tell more about links and how to crate them.

Thanks. I've used ln before, but I was unsure how it applied in this context. So you symlinked the rrd directory to your PATH directory?

Thanks again and cheers.

Thanks again.

problem solved

Post by mt97 »

I found my problem...and it was actually a dumb mistake.

Apparently, I installed both rrdtool v. 1.2 and 1.0 when I installed the necessary components. I set Cacti to use rrdtool 1.2 on the configuration page, but the path pointed to the 1.0 version of rrdtool which was located in a different directory....after I found out I had a path mixed up, I changed it and it works like a charm.

Thanks for all the assistance!
