CGI Error

Hi!

Just like most people that post their first questions here, I am also a bit of a newbee to installing Cacti, so please go easy on me...

Last week I spent a lot of time installing Cacti on a Windows Server 2003 computer and after a while I got it running. After adding a couple of devices I discovered that in many cases after logging into cacti and going to the "graphs" tab for the first time, I get the following error:
CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

After refreshing (sometimes even twice or three times) the page finaly pops up. After that the problem seems to have disapeared until I log off and log on again....
I can't find any errors though in the eventviewer or the cacti.log-file.

My server is an HP BL20p 3,4 Xeon with 1 GB of memory; so that shouldn't be a problem.
The software versions are:
Cacti 0.8.6h
Cactid 0.8.6g
PHP 5.0.5
MySQL 4.0.24
RRDTool-Cygwin 1.2.12
Cygwin 1.5.19-4
Net-SNMP 5.3.0.1-1

Sounds like a problem specific to the webserver and not cacti. What webserver are you using? Are you using fastgci?

I'm running IIS 6.0 without fastcgi

I think I've found the resolution...
My Webserver is possibly too fast...

I didn't apply the hotfix yet, but I've done two changes instead...
- I disabled Hyperthreading in the bios of the server
and
- I made a minor change to the graph trees. The topmost graph tree (named 'Routers & Switches') contained no graphs, but only leaf-objects. I created a new graph tree named 'CORE' and added a few commonly used graphs.

Haven't seen the error since!

Glad you fixed it... haven't heard of a computer being too fast before. I'd think this is more likely the problem...This race condition occurs most frequently when the CPU is running at 100 percent and the computer is processing many CGI requests.
