Been playing around with Cacti 0.8x and it has been good so far. Much more easier to administrate than the older versions. I have been working with monitoring the Cisco Class Based Weighted Fair Queueing MIBs as of late. The RRD databases tend to have a lot of data sources in them. I tried to use somewhat descriptive names for the data sources so I can keep them straight. I really appreciate the Data Source Templates in Cacti. Especially the capability of having multiple data source items in the template.
One problem though... If you have a lot of data sources in an RRD database with long names the tabs tend to get unmanagable. I started using D0, D1, ... as the names, but it is difficult to keep track of what is what.
Either a better way is needed other than the tabs for the data source items for large lists of them [ don't get me wrong, I think the tabs are really cool
] or a description field for the Data Source Item would be handy so as to help keep track of what D15 is.Thanks for hearing me out.
