Hi
My graphs seem to draw very slow on the graph view pages. I was wondering if it's intrinsic to RRDTool or whether it's due to my slow system (Pentium II 400 Mhz, 128Mb RAM).
The page for my Cisco 6500 Router has 185 graphs and it takes around 5 minutes for all the graphs to show up on Cacti. This seems way to slow.
Does anyone have a similar number of graphs (150-200) for one device? How long does the page take to load? What are the specs for your machine?
I'm hoping to get actual specs from some people, only then can I hope to budget for a new system for Cacti.
Thanks

I have a page with 446 graphs that takes about 30 seconds to render
machine:
3 GB RAM
dual intel xenon 3.2 Ghz
ignoring ram, I'm getting about
446 / (30 seconds * 6.4 Ghz) = 2.33 graphs / Ghz*Second
Or, for every Ghz of processor speed, I can render 2.33 graphs per second.
you have .4 Ghz, 600 seconds, 185 graphs
185 / (600 * 0.4) = 0.7 graphs /Ghz*Second
Of course my system does 2 things, Cacti, and Nagios, nothing else, which might help explain why my system is more efficient (could just be newer processor = newer extensions = better performance).

The issue with 185 graphs is that the way apache works is you have so many graphs to generate as once. There was an addon that allowed certain devices to have another level of display, as well as the "Expand Hosts" option within Cacti. Have you tried any of those?
