Blank Screen When Updated

Post by tkdan235 »

I had version 0.8.6d running and am now trying to upgrade to 0.8.6h on a freeBSD machine.

When upgrading, this is what I have done:

- backed up my cacti directory
- removed the previous cacti directory
- extracted the tar.gz file
- moved the data from my rra and log folders into the new 0.8.1h folder
- changed the name of the folder back to cacti
- chown -R cactiuser rra/ log/
- chmod -R 777 rra/ log/

When I visit the server I get a blank screen. I also get a blank screen if I try to go to http://x.x.x.x/install

I have restarted apache, it didnt help. So I then deleted the new cacti dir I created and copied my backup dir back to its original state and everything works fine again.

How can I get past this blank white screen? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your time! =)

I also ran tail -f on my httpd-error logs to see what happens when I visit cacti when it brings up a blank screen. Nothing happens, not one additional line in the log. I suppose that means there are no errors...

To solve my problem I simply just started installing each release in order rather than jumping from 0.8.6d to 0.8.6h.
