installation loops

Post by hattori »

Hi

I've read the installation guide for Unix several times, tryed several times a clean installation, with same result:

After login to http://servername/cacti/install/index.php and committing to the paths (all can be found), I only see a blank screen. It seems never succeed in writing the data to the database, because everytime I call http://servername/cacti it will point my browser to the installation page.

here are my specs:

Operating System: Solaris 9
Webserver: Apache Apache/2.0.52 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.52 OpenSSL/0.9.7e DAV/2 PHP/5.0.2
Cacti: cacti-0.8.6h
Cactid: ??
MySQL: 5.0.1-alpha
PHP: PHP Version 5.0.2
register_argc_argv = On
safe_mode = Off
RRDTool: /usr/local/rrdtool-1.0.49
Net-SNMP: 5.1.1

I've got it successfully running on other Solaris servers, also gathering Graphs etc.

I can't see any error messages in any error messages. But this is maybe because I don't know exactly where to find all the logs.

any help would be welcome.

thanks

I've found a message in the apache/logs/error_log:

[client IP_address] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function xml_parser_create() in /place/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6h/lib/xml.php on line 31, referer: https://servername/cacti/install/index.php

it seems to be a problem with xml not being compiled into php. I will recompile php and try again.
