I have tried many things, but I'm still ending up with gaps in my graphs. I'm not talking one gap here and there, the gaps will sometimes span entire hours where I have nothing. This is getting very frustrating for me as I'm just learning the linux environment.
HELP PLEASE!
Thanks.
HUGE gaps in my graphs

dont know If I can help you, but I had the same problem when
running allot of devices and graphs...
I had about 2000 rra´s
that allsow had to do with the fact that the switched I was checking was really slow to poll....
If you are new to linux just like me, there is 2 easy ways to install cacti...
1. follow the linux install guide....
2. I installed cacti on a debian maching in a few minutes...
apt-get install cacti <- that was enoug for me

I am only graphing approximately 20 devices at the moment. I have my install running on Ubuntu "Breezy Badger".
My graphs that I have aren't consistant, some graphs are solid and fine, and yet other, somtimes on the same machine are completely spotty (eg. graphing memory on HOST1 the graph will be fine, however graphing disk space on the same machine has huge gaps) Also, I have my linux box running on a virtual machine, and that machine when polled, has the worst gaps. Unfortunately, until I can hammer it into my bosses head that Windows sucks, I can only run my linux on a virtual machine, which is of course Microsoft Virtual server, which I absolutely hate. He won't even let me switch to the new free version of GSX server from VMware. It's an uphill battle.
Regardless, I need to get these graphs fixed, or he's going to pull the plug on the whole project and I'm going to be forced to go to a fully windows solution which I REALLY don't want to do. . . .

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Sorry for the delay, had to go on Vacation and bake in the sun!!
The versions are as follows:
Cacti: 0.8.6f-2ubuntu1
Cactid: Not Installed
RRDtool: 1.2.11-0.3
PHP: PHP5 5.0.5-2ubuntu1.1
As for templates, I'm just using the standard templates at the minute. This is a stock install out of box so to speak.

Same problem
I have the same problem in my project. Try looking for any of your devices being slower than the others when answering snmp requests, and try disabling it. In my case, I've found two "slow" devices in my netowork, and disabling them, has nearly fixed all the gaps in the graphs. However, this is not a solution, since probably, you'll need to monitor the "slow" devices also, but if your problem is the same as mine, maybe that gives a hint of what is happening to Cacti developers...
Best regards.

Graphs have stopped
i finally got cacti to show some graphs. but they only show it for the first five minutes it was running. if i want to see any color on my graphs i have to turn the time to 3 days ago. when the graphing started. does anyone know a reason why this would do something like this?
