Question about updating graph titles w/ changed switch info

Post by tfigel »

Hi-
I got the |ifAlias| to work, by going into Data Queries--> SNMP Interface-->In/Out bits --> adding a title |host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias| and then moving it up the list to the first position.

Now a REALLY tough question for the cacti experts....

We use the description field to show which machine is on each port (why I wanted that in the graph title) When we move computers around, we change
the name in the description field on the cisco.

Is there any way to get Cacti to reload the description fields |ifAlias| and
relabel the graph titles? I don't want to have to ERASE the whole device/graphs and recreate from the ground up.

Please tell me there is a way to get it to reread/update that data.

poller_reindex_hosts.php run at the console should do the trick. Run with --help for full info. You can also reindex the host by clicking on the little green circle in the left hand corner when in 'New Graphs'

Thanks that works Great (I tried both methods)
I am going to have it automatically do all in the middle of the night, but
manually we can do one at a time if needed.

Thanks

Thanks a bunch, it is running nightly now, but the graphs are not updating
unless I go to Reapply suggested name.

Is there a way to automate that?

Following it up with 'rebuild_poller_cache.php' should do the trick...
