Hello,
I've searched the whole forum but don't seem to have found a similar problem or any of the other solutions to fix this one.
I'm trying to use the |query_ifAlias| in my graphs but instead of printing the description on each port it prints out "|query_ifAlias|"
I have tried chaning graph templates and data queries to all suggested settings in the searches here but nothing seems to have helped. Is there a trick to this?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Josh

Go to devices, and click the "create gaphs for this host" for the device in question.
Under the interfaces data query, it should list the Alias that it found. Most Cisco equipment maps this to the "description <desc>" command on the interface. So if you have not issued description commands for your interfaces they won't show up here. If you don't see any Aliases listed, than the query is going to fail, and just show up as "|query_ifAlias|".

If it doesn't return valid data, the next title rule is taken from that Data Query (if there is another rule), e.g. to use |query_ifDescr| instead. You may change this to your likings. Parts of this is described in the last link of my signaturemoajosh wrote: Also is there a way to get the |query_ifAlias| to not show up if it returns null or blank?
