Discovery plugin producing no results
I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction to get the discovery plugin (Version 0.4) working. I have installed the plugin and granted permissions, so I can see the tab and the interface, but am getting no results. I have verified that my subnet is correct and am using TCP as the ping method (it is a Windows XP system).
when I try to run findhosts.php manually, I get the following information returned:
C:\wamp\php>php -q C:\wamp\www\cacti\plugins\discovery\findhosts.php

One part of that whch confuses me is the part where it shows the subnet and IP to scan as the same thing - Calculating Info for Subnet :255.255.255.0
Start IP is 255.255.255.0
Is that normal? I would really appreciate any advice anyone could give. I'd love to get this going. Thanks!

I'll be sure to correct the wording. Its asking for the IP Range, but you can specify an IP and the subnet also (the examples should clue you in). So for instance you can enter items like this....
10.1.0.*
10.10.1.0.0/24
10.10.1.0.0/255.255.255.0
10.1.0.19/255.255.255.240
10.1.0.19-10.1.0.27
It also will only scan using the community names you specify, and only on the default port.

10.10.1.0.0/255.255.255.0

Re: Discovery plugin producing no results
If you are specifying a range of IPs, adding a subnet to that range is unnecessary and screws the parser. Try instead just entering the range itselfchrisdiono wrote:Calculating Info for Subnet :10.234.0.1-10.234.0.90/255.255.252.0

Discovery plugin producing no results
yup...it's work without the subnet..but, why all of range of the IP is showing cannot find modul in the scan result.
thx
thx
I am having the same results, I want it to scan the whole 10.x.x.x range so I put 10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255. I have public specified as the community, and everything seems to be set up ok, but when I hit GO under the Discovery tab... nothing happens??? Any thoughts. Thanks!

That's a lot of IP addresses. Can you debug it?

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

So I suck and I'm new... steps to debug it...??
I work a school district and its set up 10.1 for admin, 10.2 for this school 10.3 for that school, i could split it into about 12 different ranges, but this seemed easier just to get it up and working first.
Thanks Witness

Heh, that would take a fairly long time to scan, I could imagine a few days.
The GO button doesn't start the scan, you configure the settings to tell it when to start, and it does it automatically in the background at the specified interval.
To run a debug scan, goto the command line in the discovery folder and do
php -q findhosts.php -f -d

thanks Cigamit! I thought I could run the scan with the go button without setting the schedule. I noticed when I did the debug, it starting finding everything. So I set the schedule, and everything is going great now. Thanks!!!
