Aggregate Graphs

Post by lepermime »

I started graphing LM-Sensors output to make my boss happy. It has done just that. However he now wants to see an aggregate graph showing temperatures of all of the boxes in one graph. How on earth would I set up something like that. I know I could use already created data sources in the template, but how could I get a single graph to show settings from multiple IP addresses?

Lepermime,

For that I create a new graph NOT originating from a template.
Thus, make sure alle the datasources for the various elements exist and that they capture you temperature.(I for example, have 1 graph to display the "incoming calls per minute" on 8 MAX TNT RAS server on 2 different locations, works just fine, I find such "aggregate graphs" more more interesting then hundreds of separate graphs ;-)

Ok,

- Click "Graph Management"
- Click "Add" (right above corner)
- Select "None" for both Drop-down boxes (host/template)
- On this new screen, enter some graph setting (title, size, scaling etc) en press CREATE on the bottom
- On this screen, start "adding" "Graph Items" (first section on the screen) by pressing "Add"

- On this screen, start selecting data-source of sensor 1 and set perhaps other stuff (CDEF, color, etc) and fill in something on the "Text Format" line (like SENSOR1) if you selected SENSOR1-TEMP as data-source.

Repeat this for X amount of data-source (I have a graph display free-memory of over 10 devices on 1 graph displayed as LINE3 styles)

* Turn on "Graph Debug" and watch what happens...

you can add legends etc to make it more complete, set some GRPRINT with values on the correct legend etc. Use your imagination...

Save and you are set...the graph is save with the name you have choosen in the beginning...

Does this work for you ??

Jan
