Help Required 0.8.1- graphing specfic OID

Post by tabascal »

I have just downloaded 0.8.1

I want to graph specific OID on particular hosts. Earlier it was possible through get snmp in 0.6.8.a

Moreover how do we delete a particular host after it has been saved using the polling utilty

This is possible with 0.8.1 too. To do this, add a new data source, select "None" as a data template, select a host if you wish, and click "Create". On the following screen, select "Get SNMP Data" as the data input source, and fill in the rest of the fields as you normally would. When you click "Save" you will be redirected back to this page where you can add the SNMP host/community/oid for the host you want to graph.

I am not sure what you mean by this. You can delete any host under "Polling Hosts", and its associated data sources/graphs will be unaffected. You have to delete the data sources/graphs manually.

Thanks for the input.

I have been able to create a DATA SOURCE as you said.

But I am not still able make out how add a graph.

Can I make generic template from which I can make differnt graphs by just changing the OID and host IP

Making a graph from your new data source is fairly simple. Just follow the instructions provided on this page of the manual:

http://www.raxnet.net/products/cacti/do ... ion2_2.htm

To do what you are saying about the template, you will have to create a graph and data template. Creating templates is very similar to creating graphs or data sources. I recommend that you check out the following section of the manual for more information on this:

http://www.raxnet.net/products/cacti/do ... ction4.htm

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks it works.

There is one more small issue.

When I use the polling utility on a SNMP enabled host why does it only register the interfaces

In my case I have Domino Mail Server Running on a Win NT server
Both of them are snmp enabled
But when I run the polling utility on the on this host (using the get snmp/get snmp indexed) I get only the interfaces listed out- not the OID's of the Domino Mail Server of any other WinNT Parameters.

Does it require a separate script for it?

Normally I am bale to browse all the OID's using a SNMP Browser like "getif"

The "SNMP - Interface Statistics" data query is designed for a specific purpose... to gather interfaces from an SNMP enabled host. To get other information you will have to find its OID using something like getif.
