How to move cacti config to new cacti monitoring machine

Post by yachon »

I made some network monitoring graphs on the W2K system.
But it has some limitation on CPU and Mem to proceed my grahps.

So I installed new cacti installation on the other machine using W2K pro also.

Are there any way to use the cacti config on the older machine with new machine?

Do I have to create all the graphs again with new machine?

Hi

there are a few posts about moving to a new server.

The idea is to :
- setup your 2nd server as the first one (IIS, PHP, MySQL)
- copy the Cacti directory to the 2nd server
- export the database on the first, and import it on the 2nd.

You won't have to recreate your graphs, and history won't be loss (the RRDtool databases ar in the rra/ folder).

I did it once with success.

Thank you very much for your information.

I found "how to" on the http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=3458

And finally my new server is working now.

Thank you again.
