Can I Modify the storage option of raw data ?

Post by joe_hznm »

Hi,

By default, cacti store raw data in following manner(RRA defination):

5min average raw data - store only 50 hours raw data
30min average data -- store only 350hours
2hour average data -- store only 1550hours

I noticed that average data lost a lot of information on how much bandwidth we need for actual usage ( once averaged, peak load is smoothed away). So, I want to change the default configuration to:

5min average raw data -- store one week raw data
30min average data --- store two month
1hour average data -- store one year

Beside removing all data collected and reconfigure cacti, can I do it?

no you can't do what you are trying to do as far as i know as this is a design of the underlying round robin database structure.

i have seen posts about how to script the saving of the daily graphs to another directory and keeping them for however long so you can go and review them if need be.
