0.8.6h on Fedora 4 : segmentation fault during install ?

Post by frakass »

Hi all,

I'm new to Cacti and was trying to install it on my server for the first time.

My server configuration:
- RedHat Fedora Core 4
- Apache 2.0.54
- PHP 5.1.2
- MySQL 5.0.18
- Cacti 0.8.6h

I have tried installing Cacti via RPM and via TGZ and got always the same "Apache crash" error:
accessing http://www.server.com/cacti/index.php via a browser cause Apache to crash. In Apache logs :

Code: Select all

[Sat Apr 01 01:00:26 2006] [notice] child pid 28275 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)
The same error occurs trying to access poller.php via the command line:

Code: Select all

root@server ~www/cacti# ./poller.php
zsh: segmentation fault ./poller.php
During the installation process, I have:
- installed the cacti RPM package with its dependencies
- created a dedicated database in MySQL and edited the Cacti configuration accordingly.
- checked the paths & permissions

Did I miss something?

I searched this - wow big ! - forum but haven't yet found a solution.
Anyone a clue?

Regards,
Frakass.

Great : manually *sourcing* the cacti.sql has solved my problem.

Thanks a lot Mr Li0n !
