cacti 0.8 Out

Post by raX »

Cacti 0.8 has been released! Make sure to check out the release notes before downloading this version. If you have been using a pre-release of Cacti, you must start fresh with a new install of 0.8. This is because of the many table changes that have been made throughout the development cycle.

Cacti 0.8 is able to upgrade your old 0.6.8 database to the new table format. While the importer works quite well, you may still need to update a few things manually. Make sure to pay special attention to the section of the release notes regarding script output format changes.

If you have any problems, post to the message board, send me an e-mail, or create a bug with bugzilla (if applicable).

Below is the changelog:
-feature: Added support for graph, data source, and host templates.
-feature: Added a stricter concept of hosts which enables better organization and easier graph creation.
-feature: Created data queries which enable the retrieval of indexable data in the form of a query.
-feature: Revised the entire UI creating more functional and attractive forms.
-feature: New generic poller interface enables other pollers to handle the data gathering for Cacti.
-feature: Added support for net-snmp 5.x.
docs: Revised the install documentation and re-wrote the manual for this version.
-feature: The beginnings of a threaded c-based poller (cactid), which is not completely function at this point.
-feature: And much much more...

Review of Cacti 0.8

Post by SoftWeb »

I have been using Cacti 0.6.8a for several months. I find it a very useful tool to monitor networks/systems.

Now after upgrading from Cacti 0.6.8a to Cacti 0.8 I want to give this Network monitor tool the rating it deserves.

FIVE STARS out of FIVE STARS

I upgraded all my data and did not miss a polling cycle :) Very QUICK and easy to upgrade your Cacti Site. I recommend Updating to this version today.

Ian and the Team have done an excellent job with the new added features of Cacti 0.8 and look forward to seeing a polling program that is quicker..... Yeah Baby!!!! 8)

Keep up the great work!!

Install 0.8 like you would any other Cacti version:

The only difference is during the web-based installer, make sure to choose "Upgrade from cacti 0.6.8" from the install type dropdown.
